We are putting together our scratch orchestra* once more for our Christmas carol service on 22nd December at 16:00. Would you like to be involved? Do you play an instrument to a basic level where you can read simple sheet / guitar tab music? Could you make it to a couple of rehearsals in December? If so, please speak to Nathan, or email him here.
The rehearsals are planned for:
Wednesday 18th December, 19:30 - 21:00
Sunday 22nd December 14:00 - 15:30
*Did you know that the term 'scratch orchestra' originated from an experimental group formed in 1969... a scratch orchestra was defined as: "a large number of enthusiasts pooling their resources (not primarily material resources) and assembling for action (music-making, performance, edification).
Our first outing as an orchestra happened at our Christmas carol service last year, where we had 20 players join together to celebrate. Given that this was pulled together in just a week, we're hopeful that this year we'll benefit from rehearsal time and the opportunity to play together and grow together in the run up to the Christmas event.
We also plan to take those who are able to Rosewood School to play in a celebration with the students and staff there on Friday 20th.
